Each year the State of California makes funding available through the OHV Grants Program. The grants program provides financial assistance to eligible agencies and organizations (federal, city, county, nonprofit, etc.) that develop, expand, maintain, operate, support, or contribute to well-managed, high-quality, OHV recreation areas, roads and trails.
Once again the State of California has funds that are available for education, safety, ground operation and maintenance, law enforcement and restoration projects. The Cal4Wheel Foundation will be submitting an OHV grant application for funding for an education and safety grant. This OHMVR Division Grant will provide the funding for the foundation to educate the OHV public with the publication of a coloring book for children, a 4WD Safety Handbook and Yellow Trash Bags. The coloring books will be in black and white fun activities the children can enjoy with coloring pen, crayons, etc.. All focused on OHV vehicles, roads, trails and mountains. The 4WD Safety Handbook will be full color with the concentrating on how to use your 4wd vehicle safely and how to get the most out of it. The yellow trash bags will be to educate the public on the importance of packing out everything you pack in. One of the goals is to get everyone to understand that we all need to pick up trash along the way even if it’s not yours. The message on the bags will be conservation must start with you! We have a second grant application for the purchase of Wag Bags, Spill Kits and reusable trash bags.
As part of the application process, the Cal4Wheel Foundation is requesting the public’s comment on our grant project proposal. The preliminary grant proposal will be made available March 4th on the on California Off Highway Motor Vehicle website at http://olga.ohv.parks.ca.

This period provides an opportunity for the public to review the preliminary applications and provide comments to the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division for consideration during the current grant cycle.
The public comment period begins March 05 through May 06, 2019.
Public comments shall be submitted to both the Applicant as well as the OHMVR Division by e-mailing the contact person listed on the preliminary application: mmcgarity@
